Abstract:

Background Polycystic ovary syndrome is a frequent condition in women of reproductive age with prevalence rate of 5-10%. This study purposed to determine the relationship between polycystic ovary syndrome and the outcome of assisted reproductive treatment (ART) cycle in Tehran, Iran. MaterialsAndMethods In this historical cohort study, 996 infertile women who were referred to Royan Institute (Tehran, Iran) were included in the study between January 2012 and December 2013. Polycystic ovary syndrome as a main variable and other potential confounder variables were gathered. Modified Poisson Regression was used to analyze the data. Stata software, version 13 was used for all statistical analyses. Results Unadjusted analysis showed that the risk of failure in polycystic ovary syndrome cases was significantly lower than whom did not have polycystic ovary syndrome (risk ratio: 0.79, 95% CI: 0.66-0.95, P=0.014). After adjusting for the confounder variables, there was no difference between risk of fail in women with and without polycystic ovary syndrome (risk ratio: 0.87, 95% CI: 0.72-1.05, P=0.15). The treatment protocol type, the number of embryo transferred grade A and AB, the number of injected ampoule, and age were the significant predictors of ART cycle outcome. Conclusion After adjusting for the potential confounders and by modified Poisson regression model, there was no difference between IVF/ICSI cycle outcome in patients with and without polycystic ovary syndrome.

Is there a difference in FDG PET findings of invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast with and without coexisting DCIS?

Objective(s): Studies have reported that invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) with coexisting ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) show lower metastatic potential and recurrence and better overall survival than pure IDC. In this study, we assessed F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imagesof patients with newly diagnosed IDC to...

I-47: ART Outcome in PCOS Patients

PCOS is still a problem in gynecology and infertility. Especially in ART the problem of PCOS patients is bigger and more highlighted. These patients are prone to over and under stimulation. Strategies to overcome hyper stimulation are: use of metformin, ovarian drilling, use of minimal stimulation, suppressing LH with use of OCP or GnRh analogues, use of GnRh antagonist in COH. But none of thes...

Is there any difference between Vitamin D deficiency among heart failure and Non-heart failure elderly with cardiovascular disease?

Vitamin D deficiency is common among the elderly with and without heart failure (HF). This study was designed to identify the degree of vitamin D deficiency among HF and Non- HF elderly with cardiovascular disease. In this study, fifty hospitalized elderly patients with HF (26 women and 24 men, age range 60-90 years) and fifty elderly without HF were randomly selected. The level of serum 25-hyd...
